AIX System Administrator (Linux/Unix)

About the role

Aubay Portugal is seeking an experienced AIX System Administrator to join its technology consultancy team. You will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and improvement of IBM AIX environments, supporting a range of clients in sectors such as banking, insurance, and telecommunications.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, patch, and update AIX servers on a daily basis.
• Monitor system performance and resolve incidents of medium complexity.
• Implement and maintain networking configurations (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, subnets).
• Develop and maintain shell scripts (ksh, bash) for automation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure service continuity.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Systems Administrator.
• Proactive attitude with strong organization and attention to detail.
• Excellent teamwork, planning, and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to dynamic work environments.

Required skills

• IBM AIX
• Unix/Linux operating systems
• Command‑line interface (CLI) proficiency
• Networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, subnets
• ksh, bash, or general shell scripting
• System monitoring and incident resolution
• Knowledge of Ansible (desired)
• Familiarity with RedHat IDM, RedHat Satellite, and Wazuh log centralisation (a plus)
