Aircraft Mechanic

About the role

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and inspecting assigned aircraft in a government‑run maintenance environment. The role ensures aircraft are airworthy, compliant with 14 CFR and DoD regulations, and ready for operational missions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modifications on both fixed‑wing and rotary‑wing aircraft.
• Conduct daily and turnaround inspections, corrosion control, and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
• Execute in‑flight checks and test flights when troubleshooting cannot be completed on the ground.
• Travel to temporary duty sites domestically and internationally as required.
• Provide own hand tools; special tools and test equipment supplied by the customer.

Required profile

• Valid state driver’s license and willingness to undergo random drug testing.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
• Demonstrated competence in repairing airframes, structures, hydraulics, fuel, electrical systems, and aircraft engines.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and directives.
• Physical ability to work in aircraft environments, lift up to 50 lb, and use personal protective equipment.
