Accounting Officer – Regulatory Reporting (Lisbon)

About the role
We are seeking an Accounting Officer to join the Local Regulatory Reporting (LRR) team of a major international banking group in Lisbon. The role focuses on ensuring strict compliance with financial, regulatory and tax reporting requirements and supports the preparation of annual financial statements for the entity and its Special Purpose Vehicles.
Key responsibilities
- Produce and deliver regulatory reports accurately and on time for assigned entities.
- Implement controls and reviews on regulatory reports to ensure compliance with local rules.
- Act as the liaison with the Central Bank of Portugal for all regulatory returns.
- Recommend and implement procedures that improve report quality.
- Collaborate across Finance and other functions to develop cross‑validation of reported numbers.
- Participate in projects related to regulatory reporting and accounting.
- Maintain a detailed issue log and follow up on matters arising during monthly reporting.
- Ensure up‑to‑date procedures and controls are in place for all responsibilities.
- Participate in the monthly closing process.
Required profile
- Strong resilience, teamwork and proactive communication.
- Curiosity to learn and adapt in a fast‑changing regulatory environment.
- Fluency in English (expert) and Portuguese (mastery).
- Chartered Accountant qualification is a plus.
