Transport Assistant (m/f) – Iberia

About the role

We are looking for a Transport Assistant to join our Transport team in Avintes, Vila Nova de Gaia. The role supports daily organization, monitoring and billing of routine and critical shipments to and from BA Glass plants and external customer sites, acting as the single point of contact for the supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily transport activities for finished goods.
• Coordinate with carriers to ensure on‑time delivery.
• Monitor shipments, proactively resolve issues and delays.
• Maintain communication with warehouses, planning, carriers and logistics service providers.
• Update and maintain accurate data in the ERP system and transport management tools.
• Validate and process transport invoices.
• Support transport cost control and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Schedule loading and unloading to maximise operational efficiency.
• Monitor service levels and delivery performance (OTIF).
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards and transportation legislation.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Production Planning and Warehouse teams.
• Handle customer complaints and transportation‑related claims.
• Manage urgent shipments and re‑plan deliveries when requirements change.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in transport and logistics processes.
• Contribute to carrier performance evaluation and supplier relationship management.

Required profile

• University degree in Logistics, Procurement or equivalent experience.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English.
• Excellent communication, dynamism and proactivity.
• Team player who can also work autonomously.
• Good knowledge of MS Office applications.
• Experience with SAP and Transport Management Systems is preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar transport or logistics role.
• Results‑oriented mindset.
