Student Training & Rotation (STAR) Program – SAP Portugal

About the role

The STAR (Student Training and Rotation) Program is a part‑time, one‑year initiative that combines academic study with hands‑on experience at SAP Portugal. Participants work approximately 20 hours per week, alternating between technical and functional rotations to apply classroom knowledge directly to real‑world projects.

Key responsibilities

• Complete a comprehensive onboarding phase to build technical and soft skills.
• Rotate through multiple SAP departments, spending six months in each rotation.
• Contribute to projects using programming, data analysis, or functional finance tasks.
• Collaborate with mentors and peers to deliver solutions aligned with business needs.
• Participate in training sessions and development workshops throughout the program.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or accepted to a master’s program (must remain a student for the program’s duration).
• Completed a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Analytics, Engineering, IT, Informatics or a related field.
• Full commitment to the 1‑year (potentially 18‑month) program in Portugal.
• Previous internship, apprenticeship or working‑student experience is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Java, JavaScript, C++, Python or SQL.
• Understanding of Object‑Oriented Programming concepts.
• Familiarity with operating systems such as Linux or Windows Server.
• Strong MS‑Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Advanced written and spoken English.
