Structural Engineer – Composite Materials

About the role

Join Capgemini Engineering as a Structural Engineer focused on composite materials for wind turbine blades. You will work on cutting‑edge blade concepts, balancing performance, manufacturability and service life while collaborating with global design teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop advanced blade concepts with emphasis on architecture, structural performance, manufacturing feasibility and service optimisation.
• Identify and assess new opportunities for blade innovation and strategic development.
• Assess structural integrity of blades and perform both conceptual and detailed design of large‑scale composite structures.
• Generate ideas for next‑generation wind turbine blades and coordinate design tasks across project and global teams.
• Create innovative structural solutions and new technologies to enable larger, lighter, more efficient blades.
• Optimise blades for function, simplicity, cost and manufacturability.

Required profile

• Master's degree in mechanical or structural engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing composite structures, preferably in the wind industry.
• Strong knowledge of composite structures, manufacturing methods and aero‑structure elasticity, plate and shell theory.
• Experience with structural design of composite beams and general beam theory.
• Programming skills, especially Python, are beneficial.
• Proficiency with Finite Element Method tools, particularly ANSYS, and familiarity with composite testing at full, component and coupon levels.
