Software Engineer – Real‑time Autonomous Retail Platform

About the role

Sensei is building the backbone of an autonomous retail platform that combines AI, computer vision and real‑time data processing. As a Software Engineer you will design, develop and operate high‑performance services that enable frictionless, checkout‑free shopping experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable microservices and real‑time data pipelines.
• Implement event‑driven architectures using Kafka or similar pub/sub systems.
• Build robust APIs and inter‑service communication with gRPC, RTCP and Protobuf.
• Containerize applications and manage orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) for automated testing and deployment.
• Set up logging, monitoring, alerting and observability using Datadog, Prometheus and Grafana.
• Collaborate with Computer Vision, Data Engineering and DevOps teams to integrate model inference pipelines.
• Handle camera image stream synchronization and ensure low‑latency, fault‑tolerant processing.
• Participate in code reviews and testing to guarantee production‑grade quality.

Required profile

• Strong background in building distributed, event‑driven systems.
• Experience with microservices, real‑time data processing and cloud/on‑premise infrastructures.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams (CV/ML, Data, DevOps).
• Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and observable code.
