Software Developer – Embedded C/C++ for Heat Pumps

About the role

Join the application software development team within Bosch Home Comfort’s Electric Solutions group in Aveiro. You will design and enhance embedded software for residential heating systems, focusing on C and C++ development for air‑to‑water heat pumps.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain application software in C/C++ for heat pumps and related heating systems.
• Implement control strategies, ensure reliable interaction between software, hardware and thermal processes.
• Contribute to software architecture, modular design, code reviews and technical documentation.
• Integrate, test and debug software, resolving issues at both software and system level.
• Develop and maintain MATLAB/Simulink models where model‑based development is used.
• Implement and troubleshoot communication interfaces (CAN, Modbus, LIN).
• Support continuous integration, automated testing and software delivery using Jenkins and Atlassian tools.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• At least five years of professional experience in software development, embedded systems or application software.
• Strong analytical, structured working style with a focus on quality and ownership.
• Proactive, independent yet effective team player, fluent in English (Portuguese a plus).

Required skills

• Strong C and C++ programming skills.
• Experience with MATLAB and Simulink for model‑based development.
• Knowledge of CAN, Modbus and LIN communication protocols.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Jira and Bitbucket.
• Understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms and modular architecture.
