Software Architect (Java or C#)

About the role

Intermedia is seeking a Software Architect with deep expertise in Java or C# to lead the design of reliable, scalable cloud services. The position is primarily remote, with occasional visits to the Coimbra office for collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with engineering teams to design resilient architectures, define SLI/SLO targets, and implement error‑budget and capacity‑planning processes.
• Lead reliability‑engineering initiatives, including incident response, post‑mortem analysis, and automation of operational toil.
• Conduct design and production‑readiness reviews, advising on fault tolerance, scalability, observability, and deployment safety.
• Investigate performance bottlenecks across applications, infrastructure, databases, and third‑party services, and improve metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Build and enhance automation, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure‑as‑code, and monitoring platforms to support reliable service delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and operating large‑scale cloud services in Java or C#.
• Strong background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices such as SLIs, SLOs, and incident management.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a pragmatic approach to trade‑offs between reliability and feature delivery.
