Software & AI Engineer – Backend & Integration

About the role

We are seeking a Software & AI Engineer to join a leading client in the aerospace, defense and autonomous systems sector. The role focuses on designing, developing and delivering high‑performance, scalable backend solutions while leveraging AI‑assisted coding tools.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse high‑level requirements and create precise, testable specifications.
• Design, develop, integrate and deploy robust software components, data models, services and APIs.
• Utilise AI coding tools within the delivery workflow and rigorously review their output.
• Build and own event‑driven integrations across platforms, ensuring clean boundaries and reliable data flows.
• Validate and verify software quality through automated testing, coding standards and metrics.
• Coordinate review and approval of code changes to meet programme goals.
• Collaborate in an Agile, cross‑disciplinary team throughout the full software lifecycle.
• Document new features, release notes and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in backend, full‑stack or systems engineering.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, SOLID principles and modern design patterns.
• Ability to stay current with emerging software technologies and AI‑assisted development practices.
