Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

About the role

Air Apps, a family-founded company building an AI-powered Personal & Entrepreneurial Resource Planner, is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer. The SRE ensures the reliability, availability and scalability of the systems, working at the intersection of software development and operations with automation, monitoring and performance optimisation. This is a fully onsite position in Lisbon, with relocation support offered.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, reliable and fault-tolerant systems across cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain observability tools (monitoring, logging, alerting) such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog and ELK.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment and incident response with IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Optimise performance, scalability and incident response to improve uptime.
• Work with development and DevOps teams to improve system design for reliability.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
• Ensure high availability through load balancing, failover and disaster recovery strategies.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and optimise cloud costs and resource usage on AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Take part in on-call rotations and handle incidents quickly.

Required profile

• Around 4+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps or system engineering.
• Experience with incident management, debugging and root cause analysis.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Required skills

• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and cloud-native architectures.
• IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or Pulumi.
• Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).
• Linux system administration and networking.
• Scripting (Bash, Python or Go) for automation and monitoring.
• Knowledge of load balancing, failover, distributed systems, security best practices and compliance.
