Shipboard Junior IT Manager (m/f)

About the role

Mystic Ocean, a new ocean cruise company based in Portugal offering cruises in the Mediterranean, Baltic and North Seas, is looking for a Shipboard Junior IT Manager. The position is a shoreside role based in Porto, reporting to the Chief Engineer onboard and the IT Director shoreside, with remote access to all systems on board and at headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain all IT operational applications and systems for Mystic and Mystic Ocean ships and HQ, mainly MXP modules, PBX and IPTV.
• Maintain shoreside database and application servers hosted in the Altice data center.
• Ensure operational applications stay in good condition so that business continuity is maintained, working in collaboration with all shoreside departments.

Required profile

• BSc. degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• English is essential; ability to communicate in other languages is an advantage.
• Experience as an IT specialist, support, network administrator or system administrator.
• Able to travel and work onboard the ships is a must.
• Flexibility and openness to a multicultural environment, and proven teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Experience with MXP or similar systems is preferable.
• Basic knowledge of POS systems and of managing print servers and troubleshooting printing issues.
• Ability to work with DB servers such as MS SQL and to maintain regular backups.
• Wide knowledge of systems and programs including MS Office, Windows desktop and server, O365, troubleshooting end-user errors and tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
• TCP/IP networks, basic switching, routing and firewall technology.
• VMware environment, IPTV, UDP and TV broadcasting basics; VSAT communications is an advantage.
• Basic cyber security awareness, risk management, antivirus software (e.g. KAV, Check Point) and knowledge of WSUS, DNS, DHCP, AD and GPOs.
