Senior Tax Attorney

About the role

Frost Law is expanding its Puerto Rico practice and seeks a Senior Tax Attorney to join the San Juan office. The role blends tax controversy representation with transactional and business law work, offering the chance to shape a growing practice in a key U.S. tax jurisdiction.

Key responsibilities

• Represent individuals, businesses, and nonprofits in federal and state tax audits, appeals, and litigation.
• Draft legal memoranda, IRS correspondence, and Tax Court petitions.
• Negotiate Offers in Compromise, installment agreements, penalty abatements, and other tax resolutions.
• Handle collection due‑process hearings, trust‑fund recovery penalties, and innocent spouse claims.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts such as vendor agreements, NDAs, licensing deals, and partnership contracts.
• Advise on corporate transactions, M&A due diligence, deal structuring, and post‑closing integration.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure corporate governance compliance.
• Develop the Puerto Rico client base through networking, referrals, and service expansion.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as the team grows.

Required profile

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
• Licensed to practice in Puerto Rico or willing to seek admission.
• 3–5+ years of experience in tax controversy, corporate/transactional law, or a combination of both.
• Strong legal research, writing, and negotiation abilities.
• Proven capacity to manage multiple matters in a fast‑paced environment.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to build and grow a practice.
