Senior Software Engineer – Air Traffic Management

About the role

Thales is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Air Traffic Management team in Paço de Arcos, Portugal. You will work on cutting‑edge Java applications that support critical aerospace and defense systems, ensuring high quality, security and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high‑quality, maintainable and secure Java 21 applications.
• Design scalable and efficient software architectures for air traffic management solutions.
• Write, execute and maintain unit tests, troubleshoot and resolve bugs.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, including product, QA and operations.
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation and stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Approximately 5 years of professional experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Solid background in software development and engineering practices.
• Comfortable working in an Agile environment.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
