Senior Java Developer – Remote (Portugal)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our remote team in Portugal. You will work on complex, cloud‑native solutions, taking full ownership of code from development through deployment and maintenance while collaborating closely with cross‑functional technical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of software delivery, providing strong technical expertise to the development team.
• Own your code throughout its lifecycle, from design and development to deployment and ongoing support.
• Diagnose production issues and design effective, scalable solutions.
• Contribute to solution architecture, design, and implementation.
• Challenge business requirements to achieve optimal technical and business outcomes.
• Promote adoption of new technologies that deliver business value.
• Help shape the technology roadmap and future technical direction.
• Mentor and inspire other developers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Conduct technical interviews within your area of expertise.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience as a Senior Java Developer.
• Strong proficiency with Java (including newer versions such as Java 17 and Java 21).
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot and related Spring frameworks.
• Deep understanding of architectural styles and API protocols: Microservices, REST, GraphQL Federation, SOA, Web Services.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native technologies: Azure, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub/GitHub Actions.
• Experience with Kafka, monitoring tools (OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace), and build tools like Gradle.
• Proven ability in unit testing, integration testing, and test‑driven development.
• Experience with MongoDB and MySQL databases.
• Familiarity with ALM tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, NexusPro.
• Fluency in English.
