Senior Data Scientist – Causal Inference (Lisbon)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist specialized in causal inference to join our high‑performing team in Lisbon. You will apply advanced statistical methods to uncover true causal effects of business interventions and help shape strategic decisions across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement rigorous causal inference models using techniques such as propensity‑score matching, difference‑in‑differences, instrumental variables and regression discontinuity.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and business analytics teams to translate business problems into causal questions and analytical solutions.
• Work with large, complex datasets to extract actionable insights and support company‑wide initiatives.
• Communicate methodologies, results and business implications to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.
• Deploy and scale causal models in production environments, ensuring reliability.
• Mentor junior team members and promote best practices in causal analysis.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related quantitative field.
• At least 4 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, Statistician or Economist with a focus on causal inference.
• Proven ability to structure ambiguous business problems and deliver data‑driven solutions.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in English; Portuguese is a plus.
