Senior Cloud Security Engineer

About the role

Thought Machine is building the next generation of banking technology in the cloud. As a Senior Cloud Security Engineer you will join the Security Engineering team to design, implement and lead security solutions that protect our cloud‑native products and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Provide security expertise and mentorship to engineering teams throughout planning, design and testing phases.
• Lead the design and delivery of cloud‑native preventative and detective controls that operate at scale.
• Build and maintain automation to audit infrastructure‑as‑code and live infrastructure.
• Develop security tooling in code, contribute to third‑party products and enhance existing tools.
• Co‑develop threat models with engineering teams and define mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with cloud engineering and operations to keep production environments securely operating.

Required profile

• Experience building and deploying containerised applications in public cloud using CI/CD frameworks and infrastructure automation.
• Strong knowledge of cloud networking, operations, security, automation and orchestration.
• Hands‑on experience with threat modelling, design reviews and security in distributed systems.
• Familiarity with container security best practices and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Go or Python.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
