Senior Associate – State & Local Tax (Remote Option)

About the role

KPMG is seeking a Senior Associate to join its State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. You will work with multi‑state companies, helping them navigate complex state and local income and franchise tax requirements while collaborating with a diverse team of tax professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Support multi‑state companies with state and local income tax compliance.
• Assist clients on tax issues related to state and local income and franchise taxes.
• Review state income and franchise tax estimated payments, extensions, and tax returns.
• Handle notices received from state tax authorities.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of recent experience preparing or reviewing state income tax returns and providing technical advice on multi‑state tax issues.
• Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree with CPA‑eligible coursework or JD/LLM acceptable.
• CPA certification is a plus.
• Strong ability to build relationships with clients and internal teams.
• Excellent writing, compliance, communication, and tax research skills.
• Motivation to thrive in a high‑energy team environment.
