Security Engineer

About the role

Air Apps, a Lisbon-founded company building an AI-powered personal and entrepreneurial resource planner, is looking for a Security Engineer. You will protect the company's applications, infrastructure and data from threats and vulnerabilities, working closely with development, DevOps and IT teams to build a secure development lifecycle, security monitoring and proactive risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement threat modeling to identify security risks across applications and infrastructure.
• Run vulnerability scanning, penetration testing and security assessments.
• Define and enforce secure coding practices with development teams.
• Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and automate security testing with DevOps.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents, including root cause analysis.
• Ensure compliance with standards such as ISO 27001, GDPR and SOC 2.
• Design IAM policies, encryption standards and authentication mechanisms.
• Review features, APIs and third-party integrations with product teams, and write incident response plans and security documentation.

Required profile

• Around 4+ years of experience in cybersecurity, application security or security engineering.
• Strong knowledge of secure coding, OWASP Top 10 and threat modeling.
• Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and penetration testing.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM, IDS and security monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with cloud security in AWS, Azure or GCP, including IAM and workload protection.
• Ability to explain security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Scripting and automation with Python, Bash and PowerShell.
• Vulnerability scanners such as Nessus, Qualys and Burp Suite.
• DevSecOps and integration of security into CI/CD pipelines.
