Repair Lead Design Engineer – Compressor Solutions

About the role

Join Siemens Energy’s Applied Technical Solutions team to lead the design and validation of compressor repair solutions across Europe. You will work closely with technology experts, factories, service centres and field personnel to ensure customers achieve higher capacity, efficiency and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Apply and standardise 3D‑scan technology for remodelling and industrialising compressor components and assemblies.
• Coordinate project progress, develop repair designs and make technical decisions while communicating with repair centres and stakeholders.
• Support pre‑sale activities by evaluating proposed solutions for practicality, logistics and risk mitigation.
• Create repair solutions using global service‑centre knowledge, including 3D modelling for part replacements with precise dimensions, tolerances, fits, finishes and materials.
• Develop upgrade alternatives for rotors, bearings, seals and other compressor parts in line with legal requirements.
• Assist manufacturing, purchasing and suppliers in interpreting drawings, addressing shop‑floor deviations and communicating changes.
• Engage in field and service‑centre work to support hardware implementation into client compressors.

Required profile

• Diploma, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• More than 10 years of industrial experience with rotating machinery, including centrifugal and screw compressors.
• At least 5 years of experience in compressor repair engineering or product design engineering.
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across organisations.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities, capable of working independently or within a team on complex designs.

Required skills

• 3D‑scan technology and laser scanning.
• Reverse engineering and parametric 3D modelling techniques.
• Dimensional inspection using laser scanners for OEM parts and assemblies.
• Mechanical engineering expertise in rotating machinery and compressor repair.
