R&D Engineer Electrical Development

About the role

Exide Technologies is seeking an R&D Engineer – Electrical Development to join its Energy Solutions division in Castanheira do Ribatejo, Portugal. Reporting to the Department Manager, you will apply hands‑on engineering expertise to develop, test and verify advanced battery systems for stationary energy storage applications.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute testing strategies, including root‑cause analysis, data analysis, test‑setup design and identification of external testing opportunities.
• Participate in the design, development and integration of battery systems for both existing and new product lines.
• Ensure product verification and compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements across multiple countries.
• Develop comprehensive test programmes to guarantee reliability, safety and performance of battery solutions.
• Maintain system documentation and manage certification processes for all battery products.
• Collaborate with suppliers and customers to align product functionality with technical specifications and expectations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in test development within technical or engineering environments.
• Experience with E‑plan and electronic/electrical testing tools.
