Project Manager – OFCI Data Centre Construction

About the role

We are looking for a professional site‑based Project Manager to lead the OFCI equipment installation and commissioning for a new data centre in Sines, Portugal. The role reports to Business Unit Directors and works closely with the general contractor and equipment vendors to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support Business Unit Directors in achieving project objectives.
• Deliver high‑quality project management services that meet customer requirements and internal procedures.
• Ensure OFCI installation and commissioning comply with specifications, budget and schedule.
• Coordinate with vendors to secure on‑time delivery and installation of critical plant and equipment.
• Monitor and control on‑site progress, conduct regular site walks, and track corrective actions.
• Record and report non‑conforming work, drive follow‑up and preventative actions.
• Optimize installation activities to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.
• Prepare and review technical submissions and manage change requests.
• Work with the general contractor to approve method statements before installation.
• Advise Directors of any issues that could affect Gleeds professional indemnity insurance.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience in data‑centre construction or other large‑scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment and engineering specifications for data centres.
• Familiarity with industry standards and vendor QA/QC processes.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and negotiation abilities.
• Fluent English; Portuguese is a plus.
• Eligible to work in Portugal and able to work on‑site in Sines.
