Project Manager – International Development (Portugal)

About the role
You don't manage processes – you own results. In this role you take full responsibility for international development projects while keeping the whole product in focus.
Key responsibilities
- Full ownership of international development projects, collaborating closely with development teams in Germany and China.
- Lead cross‑functional teams across hardware, software, quality assurance, production and product management.
- Maintain a system‑level view of the product, analysing interactions between subsystems and identifying systemic risks.
- Critically evaluate progress reports, quality assessments and technical dependencies, forming independent judgments.
- Proactively manage risks by defining concrete measures and ensuring their resolution.
- Present project status, risks and decision proposals to top management clearly and convincingly.
- Communicate effectively at all levels, from engineers on the floor to the executive board.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners throughout the project lifecycle.
Required profile
- Degree in a technical field such as mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering or industrial engineering.
- Several years of experience as a project manager in hardware and software development projects, preferably with embedded software background.
- Solid technical overview across engineering disciplines, able to assess and challenge input from development, quality and production.
- Systems thinking: ability to grasp complex technical relationships at product level and maintain a clear overall view.
- Experience with quality management systems and methods (e.g., QKT, FMEA, quality gates).
- Strong risk awareness and proven structured risk‑management experience for complex development projects.
- Excellent communication skills across all levels, from technical discussions to board‑level presentations.
- Structured, pragmatic, self‑driven working style with confidence to push initiatives forward.
- Fluent English is mandatory.
