Pharmacy Intern

About the role

This Pharmacy Intern position offers hands‑on experience in a retail pharmacy setting, supporting pharmacists and the pharmacy team while learning to deliver exceptional patient care in line with state and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers, answering questions and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
• Use pharmacy information systems to retrieve patient and medication data, process and fill prescriptions, and handle third‑party claims.
• Assist pharmacists with patient counseling, blood pressure checks, and medication therapy management within the intern scope of practice.
• Report prescription errors promptly and follow quality‑improvement procedures.
• Operate the cash register, handle cash transactions, and assist customers in locating over‑the‑counter products.
• Answer telephone calls that do not require pharmacist intervention, including physician communications.
• Support inventory management tasks such as ordering, receiving, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well‑stocked pharmacy environment.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a pharmacy program and pursuing a future pharmacist license.
• Willingness to learn pharmacy policies, procedures, and customer‑service best practices.
• Ability to follow state, federal, and company regulations under pharmacist supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills for engaging customers and collaborating with team members.
