Ocean Freight Specialist

About the role

As an Ocean Freight Specialist you will coordinate and manage international freight shipments, ensuring they move efficiently, compliantly and cost‑effectively for DP World’s global customers. You will act as the main point of contact between shippers, carriers, customs brokers and internal teams, delivering a high‑quality customer experience throughout the end‑to‑end transportation process.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate ocean freight shipments from booking to final delivery, meeting service levels and customer requirements.
• Prepare, review and manage shipping documentation, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and international trade rules.
• Provide shipment updates, resolve issues and maintain strong relationships with customers.
• Collaborate with carriers, shipping lines, customs brokers and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth movement of goods.
• Monitor shipment progress, anticipate disruptions and implement solutions to minimise impact.
• Negotiate freight rates and service agreements with carriers and vendors.
• Use freight forwarding systems and technology tools to maintain visibility, data accuracy and process efficiency.
• Identify and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in ocean freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain or international transportation.
• Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, Incoterms and shipping documentation.
• Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish and English (written and spoken).
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Customer‑focused, solution‑oriented attitude with strong communication skills.
