Molding Engineer

About the role

ABB is seeking a Molding Engineer to optimize injection molding processes for its Installation Products division in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. You will lead improvements that reduce labor hours, enhance quality, and meet cost and safety targets while supporting production goals.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the working phase sequence for new production processes to achieve product cost and equipment budget targets.
• Ensure appropriate production methods, cycle times, equipment performance, and material usage to meet production targets.
• Identify waste, recommend and execute improvement projects, adhering to schedule, quality, and cost requirements.
• Approve process designs, conduct final testing, and support start‑up activities with action plans and training.
• Evaluate new process technologies, lead testing, set approval criteria, and select external providers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (preferred).
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, specifically injection molding.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities, including FMEA, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English.
