MEP Design Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced MEP Design Manager to lead the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design effort for Costaterra Golf & Ocean Club, a luxury residential and hospitality community in Comporta, Portugal. You will act as the technical authority, ensuring that all MEP systems are fully coordinated, compliant, and aligned with project goals.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and review all MEP designs produced by external consultants, ensuring compliance with project requirements, local regulations, and utility authorities.
• Coordinate MEP design with architecture, structure, interiors, landscape, and infrastructure teams to avoid clashes and ensure seamless integration.
• Lead design coordination workshops and review BIM models to resolve technical issues.
• Visit construction sites regularly to verify design intent, assess installation quality, and provide rapid solutions to on‑site challenges.
• Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and support testing and commissioning activities.
• Identify risks early, support value‑engineering decisions, and maintain design logs and risk registers.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering or a related field.
• 8–15+ years of experience in MEP design management, including client‑side or PMC exposure.
• Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems for residential, hospitality, and infrastructure projects.
• Experience managing consultants, multidisciplinary coordination, and BIM processes.
• Familiarity with Portuguese codes and authority requirements is a plus.
