Mechanical Project Engineer – Data Centre HVAC (Portugal)

About the role

We are seeking a site‑based Mechanical Project Engineer to lead HVAC installation on a high‑profile data centre project in Portugal. You will oversee the mechanical works from construction through commissioning, ensuring safety, schedule, budget and quality standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily HVAC installation activities and manage subcontractors on site.
• Monitor progress against the programme and report site performance.
• Review drawings, specifications and technical submittals.
• Resolve technical and installation issues during construction.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning and system handover.
• Attend site meetings and liaise with clients, consultants and stakeholders.
• Maintain site records, progress reports and project documentation.
• Develop and manage a detailed project delivery schedule.
• Liaise between client and manufacturing facilities, with occasional visits.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years experience in HVAC, mechanical services or MEP project delivery.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems – AHUs, FCUs, chillers, heat pumps, ductwork and pipework.
• Experience on commercial, industrial, healthcare, pharmaceutical or data‑centre projects.
• Confident reading of engineering drawings; proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with CAD/BIM tools such as Revit or SolidWorks (preferred).
• Self‑starter with strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.
• Valid EU working rights.

• HVAC system components (AHU, FCU, chillers, heat pumps, ductwork, pipework).
• AutoCAD.
• MS Office.
• CAD/BIM tools (Revit, SolidWorks – preferred).
