Mechanical Design Engineer – Robotics

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of our autonomous agricultural robot. The role combines CAD design, hands‑on prototyping, supplier coordination and field testing to deliver robust, manufacturable hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies in CAD, iterating through multiple product versions.
• Maintain the Bill of Materials, ensuring version control and alignment with procurement.
• Source components, obtain quotes, manage lead times and build relationships with suppliers.
• Create and improve assembly documentation, and assist with hands‑on build tasks.
• Participate in field deployments, customer sites and trials to gather performance feedback.
• Collaborate with embedded‑systems and software teams to integrate sensors, wiring and hardware.
• Support product certification activities such as CE marking and machinery directive compliance.
• Identify design improvements based on field data, manufacturing constraints and cost targets.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design or product engineering, preferably in robotics, machinery or industrial equipment.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and comfortable working across multiple workstreams in a fast‑moving startup.
• Legal right to work in Europe without visa sponsorship.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or equivalent).
• Experience managing Bills of Materials and working with suppliers/manufacturers.
• Hands‑on assembly and prototype building.
• Familiarity with product certification processes (CE marking, machinery directive) is a plus.
