Legal Counsel – Real Estate Development (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Real Estate Development Lawyer to join our legal team as a remote counsel. The role will involve providing comprehensive legal support across all stages of real‑estate projects, from acquisition through financing, construction and eventual disposition.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on land acquisition, due diligence, entitlement, permitting and construction agreements.
• Draft, review and negotiate purchase agreements, development agreements, leases, construction contracts and loan documents.
• Manage legal risks associated with financing, joint ventures, leasing and sales.
• Conduct legal research on real‑estate statutes, regulations and case law.
• Collaborate with development, finance and construction teams and liaise with government agencies, lenders, investors and consultants.
• Stay current on industry best practices and regulatory changes.

Required profile

• Law degree from a reputable university and admission to the bar in the country of residence (dual qualification in a common‑law jurisdiction is a plus).
• 5+ years of experience in real‑estate law, focusing on development and transactions; prior in‑house experience with luxury developers preferred.
• Experience in construction, real‑estate disputes and property management.
• Strong understanding of real‑estate development processes and regulations.

Required skills

• Excellent legal drafting, negotiation and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in English; Portuguese language skills are a plus.
