Lead Installation Engineer – Offshore SURF Projects

About the role

Our client seeks an experienced Lead Installation Engineer to head offshore SURF (Subsea, Umbilicals, Flowlines, and Risers) installation activities in Lisbon. You will guide multidisciplinary teams from tender and FEED stages through to offshore execution, ensuring safe, efficient and on‑time delivery of complex installation packages.

Key responsibilities

• Lead installation engineering for offshore projects, covering design, methodology development and work‑pack creation.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review installability of subsea equipment, tooling and installation aids.
• Conduct constructability reviews, risk assessments and engineering readiness checks.
• Interface with clients, suppliers and internal project teams, supporting procurement and technical bid evaluations.
• Monitor schedules, progress, quality and costs, providing technical support during vessel mobilisations and offshore campaigns.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote a strong HSE culture.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (Mechanical, Offshore, Naval, Civil or equivalent).
• Minimum 8 years of offshore installation engineering experience.
• Proven track record on SURF projects, including flexible flowlines, umbilicals, subsea structures, heavy lifting and vessel operations.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Fluent English (mandatory); BOSIET certification is a strong advantage.
