Key Account Manager – 6‑month contract (Portugal)

About the role

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Key Account Manager on a six‑month contract to support the adoption of its rare‑disease medicines for cystic fibrosis across Portugal. The role combines field‑based engagement with remote work, requiring extensive travel to major hospitals in Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute insight‑driven, account‑level business plans for cystic fibrosis centres.
• Communicate disease and product knowledge to physicians, pharmacists and hospital procurement teams.
• Promote safe, effective use of Vertex’s CF portfolio in line with product labels.
• Maintain up‑to‑date understanding of the CF treatment landscape, reimbursement pathways and barriers to care.
• Coordinate internal and external resources to enhance patient outcomes and meet account‑plan targets.
• Collaborate with marketing to create and implement promotional activities, forecast sales and track budgets.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies in all interactions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a scientific discipline.
• Experience interacting with healthcare professionals, especially cystic fibrosis physicians and hospital pharmacists.
• Familiarity with hospital drug purchase workflows, credit collection and debt management.
• Proven ability to develop and execute account‑level business plans.
• Strong analytical skills to monitor market drivers, referral patterns and reimbursement issues.
