K9 Handler – Cargo Screening (San Juan, PR)

About the role

The K9 Handler will work with an explosive‑detection dog to screen cargo in compliance with TSA regulations. The role involves both training and operational duties, and the canine must reside in the employee’s climate‑controlled home.

Key responsibilities

• Complete a 4–8‑week team training and certification program before deployment.
• Conduct cargo searches using X‑ray, physical inspection, and trace detection techniques.
• Maintain training records and ensure the canine’s health, care, and living conditions meet program standards.
• Operate a company vehicle for on‑site training and transport the dog and crate.
• Work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional travel.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship for at least three years.
• 1–2 years documented experience handling an explosive‑detection dog in an operational environment.
• Ability to obtain a Known Traveler Number, SIDA badge, and Security Threat Assessment within six weeks of hire.
• Reliable transportation with climate‑controlled cargo area.
• Willingness to maintain all certifications and security clearances.
