Junior Data Scientist – People Analytics

About the role

Airbus Portugal is hiring a Junior Data Scientist for its People Analytics team in Lisbon. You will join the HR community to strengthen data science capabilities, build predictive scenarios for key projects and work with HR professionals to turn Airbus Data into practical use cases. The team works in an agile mode alongside data analysts and data scientists.

Key responsibilities

• Spread data science awareness within the HR community
• Identify use cases where predictive/correlation analysis, simulations or classification bring value to the function
• Build end-to-end AI models and share them comprehensively with business counterparts
• Act as a stakeholder coordinating between HR business, IT and the data science community

Required profile

• 1 to 3 years of experience in data science
• Strong background in applied mathematics and Python
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and to communicate clearly to diverse audiences, including senior management
• Good spoken and written English; able to explain model results and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
• Desirable: knowledge of HR business basics and GDPR

Required skills

• Advanced Python classes/objects and GPU-accelerated computing
• Machine and deep learning models, including large language models (LLMs)
• DevOps tools such as GitHub and PyTest
• Visualization tools such as Spotfire and QlikSense
• Basic integration with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) for NLP and automation
• Desirable: HR reporting systems (Workday, PRISM, SAP BI)
