Junior Backend Developer (Node.js/TypeScript)

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Backend Developer to join a small, ambitious engineering team building the infrastructure for a real-time sports trading platform. You will work on high-performance, scalable services that aggregate odds and liquidity from multiple sportsbooks and enable seamless trade execution.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Design and build scalable APIs for data-intensive applications.
• Work with SQL databases, including PostgreSQL, and caching layers such as Redis.
• Contribute to distributed, event-driven and real-time systems.
• Optimize performance, latency and reliability of critical services.
• Collaborate closely with engineers in a fast-moving, hybrid environment.

Required profile

• 2-4 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript and SQL.
• Proven ability to build and maintain APIs.
• Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows.
• Solid understanding of backend fundamentals and distributed architectures.
• Eligibility to work in the EU and availability to work from Lisbon on a hybrid basis.
