Java Software Engineer (Porto)

About the role

Vivavis is looking for a Java Software Engineer to join its R&D team in Porto. You will help develop and maintain a Java‑based desktop application that configures and supports a suite of energy‑management solutions used internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and test new features for the existing Java desktop application.
• Develop software tools that configure and support other products in the company ecosystem.
• Collaborate daily with the local R&D team and with colleagues in Germany.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from coding to testing and release.
• Contribute to technical improvements and long‑term evolution of the product.
• Work in an agile environment using Java, Eclipse, Jira and related tools.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong understanding of Object‑Oriented Programming principles.
• Experience building backend or desktop software applications in Java.
• Good problem‑solving abilities and a willingness to learn.
• Comfortable working in collaborative, technical teams.
• Fluent English communication skills (mandatory).
