IBDP Physics Teacher – International School

About the role

CIV is seeking a highly motivated, qualified, and experienced IBDP Physics Teacher to join the secondary school science department. The successful candidate will deliver engaging Physics lessons that foster scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and academic excellence, preparing students for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme examinations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality Physics lessons aligned with IB Diploma Programme (HL and SL) requirements.
• Foster a classroom environment rooted in scientific inquiry, encouraging experimental skills and deep conceptual understanding.
• Assess, record and report student progress; prepare students for internal assessments, Extended Essays and final IB examinations.
• Supervise practical laboratory work, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety protocols.
• Contribute to the pastoral system, potentially acting as a Homeroom Teacher to support student well‑being and academic tracking.
• Collaborate with the Science Department and wider school community on interdisciplinary projects, extracurricular activities and events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering or a closely related scientific discipline.
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS or equivalent).
• Proven experience teaching IBDP Physics (HL/SL) or equivalent international curricula.
• Native or near‑native fluency in English.
• EU citizenship or a valid visa/residence permit allowing employment in Portugal.
