Head of Group Accounting

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Group Accounting to lead the Group's accounting and financial reporting across multiple international entities. Based in our new Group Finance Centre of Excellence in Portugal, you will shape the function, establish best‑practice processes and support the Group CFO in driving finance excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Group accounting function, ensuring consistent application of policies and controls.
• Own monthly, quarterly and annual close processes and deliver timely, accurate reporting.
• Manage the Group consolidation process, including intercompany reconciliations and adjustments.
• Coordinate the annual statutory audit and act as primary contact for external auditors.
• Oversee preparation and filing of statutory financial statements for all subsidiaries.
• Handle monthly upload, validation and reconciliation of financial data within Cognos.
• Drive global implementation and optimisation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Promote standardisation, automation and continuous improvement of finance processes.
• Maintain a robust financial control environment in line with governance and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with local finance teams, senior leadership and external advisors on accounting and compliance matters.
• Lead, coach and develop the Group accounting and consolidation team.

Required profile

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant experience in international group accounting, consolidation and statutory audits.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven leadership skills and a drive to improve finance efficiency and scalability.
