Environmental Health Services Technician

About the role

The Environmental Health Services Technician ensures a clean, hygienic, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff within FMCNA facilities. This position supports the organization’s mission by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, complying with regulatory requirements, and assisting with basic facility maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and disinfection of patient areas, bathrooms, kitchens, waiting rooms, treatment spaces and selected exterior zones.
• Respond promptly to spills, leaks, clogged drains and other immediate maintenance issues.
• Maintain and clean facility equipment such as televisions, computers, HVAC units, vents, and furniture.
• Manage waste disposal, including regular, recyclable and bio‑hazard materials, following established policies.
• Stock and label cleaning supplies, monitor inventory levels and report re‑order needs.
• Document, label, dilute and apply disinfectants in accordance with MSDS and HMIS guidelines.
• Assist with dialysis preparation areas, dialysis station cleaning and post‑treatment sanitation.
• Perform basic plant repairs such as painting, bulb replacement, ceiling‑tile changes, and minor plumbing tasks.
• Operate the RO water‑treatment machine and conduct initial water‑quality testing.

Required profile

• Commitment to compliance with FMCNA policies, regulatory standards and safety procedures.
• Ability to identify and report maintenance issues promptly.
• Willingness to assist technical or nursing staff with equipment movement and basic support tasks.
• Attention to detail in cleaning, inventory control and documentation.

Required skills

• RO machine operation and water‑quality testing.
• Use and interpretation of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Hazard Material Identification System (HMIS) for cleaning chemicals.
• Inventory management for cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Basic facility maintenance skills (painting, bulb replacement, minor plumbing).
