Engineering Manager

About the role

Thought Machine is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a talented group of engineers in Lisbon. You will own complex technical projects that advance our cloud‑native banking platform, ensuring high‑quality, secure, and performant solutions for global financial institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering technical excellence and career growth.
• Deliver on product roadmap items by managing project deliverables from design through implementation.
• Collaborate with product and architecture teams to shape strategy and prioritize work.
• Ensure engineering best practices, code quality, and scalability across backend services and frontend experiences.
• Maintain a four‑day‑a‑week onsite presence in the Lisbon office.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing software engineering teams in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to translate requirements into clear technical designs.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
• Based in Lisbon and able to work onsite four days per week.
