About the role

ALTEN Portugal is seeking a passionate Jigs & Tools Engineer to join its Aerostructures & Manufacturing Engineering division. You will be responsible for designing, developing and optimizing assembly tooling for large aircraft structural components, ensuring high precision and reliability throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop jigs, fixtures and assembly tooling for aircraft structural parts.
• Analyse 3D models, technical drawings and manufacturing requirements.
• Evaluate existing tooling and implement improvements or adjustments.
• Create and support the manufacturing of physical tooling solutions.
• Verify that tooling designs meet dimensional and tolerance specifications.
• Perform assembly and interference reviews using CAD tools.
• Assist production teams in resolving tooling‑related issues.
• Participate in tooling validation, qualification and continuous improvement activities.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality and industrial teams throughout the tooling lifecycle.

Required profile

• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering.
• Proven experience in tooling design, manufacturing engineering or production support.
• Hands‑on mindset with the ability to bridge design and manufacturing requirements.
• Experience working in factory environments and with large industrial equipment.
• Aerospace experience is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CATIA and 3D modelling environments.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, metal structures and precision tolerancing.
• Experience using CAD tools for assembly and interference reviews.
