EHS Specialist

About the role

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will support Mentor Technical Group’s life‑science facilities by ensuring a safe, compliant workplace. The role involves monitoring regulations, conducting investigations, and coordinating training to protect employees, the environment, and the company’s operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor federal, state and local EHS regulations (OSHA, CAL/OSHA, EPA, AQMD, ADA, fire codes) and recommend corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents, near‑misses and property‑damage events, prepare investigation and injury reports, and follow‑up to prevent recurrence.
• Conduct and track safety training programs and routine safety observations to verify compliance.
• Maintain internal and regulatory reporting for air, storm‑water, surface‑water discharges and other environmental permits.
• Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies during inspections, permitting and reporting activities.
• Assist in the oversight of the Workers’ Compensation program and support insurance claim processing.
• Participate in manufacturing meetings to discuss safety and regulatory concerns and promote continuous improvement.
• Build effective relationships with operations managers, supervisors and employees to foster a safety‑first culture.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of OSHA, CAL/OSHA, EPA and related environmental and safety regulations.
• Experience preparing incident investigations, injury reports and regulatory filings.
• Ability to conduct training, safety observations and audits across multiple sites.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with operations and management.
• Proactive attitude to stay current with changes in safety and environmental legislation.
