Divisional Finance Director / Controller

About the role

The Divisional Finance Director/Controller leads the finance and accounting team for a Salvation Army division, ensuring accurate financial data, compliance with GAAP, and timely reporting to leadership. This senior position oversees budgeting, cash flow, audits, and grant reporting while supporting the mission-driven work of the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily finance and centralized accounting staff, assigning tasks and ensuring separation of duties.
• Prepare and present monthly and annual financial statements, fiscal year‑end consolidations, and pro‑forma budgets.
• Monitor cash flow, approve funding withdrawals, and maintain adequate cash reserves.
• Oversee internal and external audits, respond to auditor inquiries, and conduct regular corps audits.
• Manage financial and grant reporting for governmental and non‑governmental funding sources.
• Develop the annual command budget and ensure compliance with Salvation Army policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (Master’s preferred) and at least seven years of management experience.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and manage multiple projects with professionalism.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally, including evenings and weekends.
• Previous experience in non‑profit finance and government contract management is preferred.
