DevOps / Cloud Platform Engineer (Lisbon)

About the role

1GLOBAL, a global mobile communications provider founded in 2022, is looking for a DevOps/Cloud Platform Engineer to join its Technology department in Lisbon. You will build and evolve the infrastructure platform used by engineering teams across multiple cloud providers, owning automation, networking, Kubernetes platforms and shared services that enable secure, scalable and reliable application delivery. The workplace is hybrid and fluency in English is required.

Key responsibilities

• Design, provision and operate multi-cloud infrastructure across AWS, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, StackIT and OpenStack using Infrastructure as Code.
• Operate and evolve managed Kubernetes environments such as Amazon EKS and Oracle OKE.
• Develop reusable infrastructure abstractions with Terraform, Terragrunt, Terramate and Crossplane so engineering teams can self-serve infrastructure.
• Deploy and maintain managed cloud services such as Amazon RDS, object storage, networking services and cloud-native integrations.
• Build and run shared platform components including Kafka, HashiCorp Vault, Kubernetes Operators, ingress controllers and other foundational services.
• Design and maintain secure cloud networking (VPCs, routing, peering, load balancers, firewalls, L4/L7 traffic management).
• Run service mesh technologies such as Istio for secure service-to-service communication, observability and traffic management.
• Implement identity and access management with Keycloak, cloud IAM services and API gateways.
• Embed security through policy enforcement, least-privilege access, secrets management and policy-as-code.

Required profile

• 5+ years building and operating cloud infrastructure, with strong AWS experience and exposure to OCI or other providers.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, high availability, disaster recovery and infrastructure design patterns.
• Comfortable collaborating with software engineers, SREs and security teams.

Required skills

• Terraform with large-scale modular architectures; Terragrunt and/or Terramate highly desirable; Pulumi or AWS CDK a plus.
• Kubernetes internals, including Operators, CSI, CNI, scheduling, networking, storage and lifecycle management.
• Cloud networking (VPCs, routing, security groups, firewalls, load balancers, service meshes).
• Istio or similar service mesh, and shared services such as Kafka, Vault, ingress controllers and API gateways.
• IAM, authentication, authorization, Keycloak, secrets management and least-privilege design.
• Bash and Python for automation; policy-as-code with OPA/Gatekeeper, Kyverno or cloud-native frameworks.
• Nice to have: Argo CD or Flux, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, OpenTelemetry, FinOps, and internal developer platform design.
