Design Engineer – Pharmaceutical Projects

About the role

Hovione is seeking a Design Engineer to lead and support complex engineering projects within its pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The role combines technical design, project management and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver safe, compliant and productive solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in defining User Requirement Specifications (URS) to ensure safety, ergonomics and productivity.
• Lead design, development and implementation of complex engineering projects, aligning with business objectives and engineering standards.
• Manage technical procurement, support supplier selection and approve purchase requisitions.
• Develop, review and maintain engineering designs, standards and technical documentation throughout project phases.
• Control project budgets, schedules, risks and resources to ensure cost‑effective and compliant execution.
• Supervise construction, installation, commissioning, qualification and integration activities, coordinating internal and external teams.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, regulatory, legal, environmental, health and safety requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and proposing innovative solutions.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
• Relevant experience in execution of industrial projects, preferably in the pharmaceutical or related industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and legal regulations.
• Excellent project management and organisational skills.
• Competent written and verbal English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with piping engineering software such as AutoCAD, CADWorx and Inventor.
• Mechanical engineering expertise applied to industrial environments.
