Data Quality Analyst – AI Model Data Analyst

About the role

Focal Systems is looking for a Data Quality Analyst to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the training data that powers its computer‑vision models for retail AI. You will work closely with machine‑learning and operations teams to maintain high‑quality datasets that improve product detection on shelf‑mounted cameras.

Key responsibilities

• Review, clean, and correct labelled image and product data used for model training.
• Identify and fix mislabelled, inconsistent, or low‑quality data and flag systematic errors.
• Conduct routine quality‑assurance checks before data enters the training pipeline.
• Onboard and scan new products, ensuring catalogue and reference data are complete.
• Compare model predictions with ground truth to surface edge cases and under‑performance.
• Collaborate with ML and operations teams to refine labelling guidelines and data standards.
• Meet or exceed speed and quality KPIs and communicate progress to supervisors.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and a genuine care for data accuracy.
• Comfort working with large volumes of data, spreadsheets, and annotation tools.
• Analytical and problem‑solving mindset with ability to spot patterns and root‑cause errors.
• Interest or exposure to machine learning, computer vision, or AI pipelines (advantageous).
• Effective time management and communication skills.

What we offer

• Permanent full‑time contract based in Portugal (1‑2 days onsite per week).
• Salary range €16,000 – €20,000 per year.
