Data Engineer – R&D Digital Solutions

About the role

As a Data Engineer in Continental's Digital Solutions R&D team, you will build and optimise data platforms that power AI‑driven services for global fleet customers. You will work with IoT and telematics data from connected tyres and vehicles, enabling advanced analytics that improve safety, reduce costs and extend tyre lifecycles.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines for real‑time and batch processing of IoT and telematics data.
• Develop and manage cloud‑based data platforms, optimising performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Implement data‑quality, validation and governance processes to ensure GDPR compliance.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and MLOps Engineers to deliver reliable datasets for AI/ML services.
• Mentor junior engineers, review work and organise knowledge‑sharing sessions.

Required profile

• Academic degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• More than 2 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Expertise with AirFlow for workflow orchestration.
• Hands‑on experience with big‑data frameworks such as Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Kafka and DBT.
• Solid understanding of data modelling and databases (relational, NoSQL, time‑series).
• Familiarity with data versioning and lineage tracking.
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and working in international teams.
• Proficient English communication skills.
