Country Manager – Portugal

About the role

We are looking for a proactive, business‑mindset Country Manager to lead the launch and growth of Laista Group’s operations in Portugal. Reporting to the Group CEO, you will shape the market strategy, oversee compliance and build a local team while working in a hybrid setting based in the Algarve region.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a market development strategy to generate at least 25 % of group turnover from Portugal.
• Analyse the Portuguese market, identify target client segments and priority services.
• Structure and scale local operations, ensuring compliance with Portuguese labour law, payroll and temporary‑employment regulations.
• Oversee external payroll, accounting, legal and HR partners, set expectations and monitor quality.
• Maintain relationships with Segurança Social, Autoridade Tributária, IEFP and other relevant institutions.
• Identify operational and compliance risks and implement mitigation measures.
• Recruit, develop and lead a local team to support business growth.

Required profile

• Proactive, business‑oriented leader with strong commercial acumen.
• Experience in business development or market entry within the HR services sector.
• Solid understanding of Portuguese payroll processes and labour legislation.
• Ability to manage external service providers and build internal capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills in English; Portuguese proficiency is a plus.
