Cost Manager

About the role

The Cost Manager will oversee cost management for a data centre construction project in Sines, Portugal. The role covers the entire construction stage through to final account settlement, requiring on‑site presence throughout the work week.

Key responsibilities

• Support Business Unit Directors in achieving project objectives.
• Deliver high‑quality cost management services that meet customer requirements.
• Prepare and present cost estimates, option studies, and cost‑in‑use analyses.
• Plan, budget, and forecast project costs.
• Evaluate tenders, value completed work, and arrange payments.
• Settle final accounts and administer contracts as Contract Administrator or Employer’s Agent.
• Produce and present cost reports to customers.
• Integrate cost management with overall project delivery and identify cost‑related risks and opportunities.
• Advise directors of any issues that could affect professional indemnity insurance.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of cost management experience on large‑scale construction projects.
• Experience in the data centre or mission‑critical sector is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of post‑contract cost management tasks.
• Clear oral and written communication skills in English.
• Methodical, well‑organized, and able to adapt quickly.
• Understanding of legislation affecting building contracts.
• Eligibility to work in Portugal and availability to work on‑site five days a week.
