Commercial Counsel (Legal)

About the role

DataCamp is seeking an experienced commercial lawyer to lead the drafting, negotiation, and management of a wide range of commercial agreements. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will have autonomy to own deals end‑to‑end and support the licensing of DataCamp’s products and services to customers, channel partners, and vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate Master Services Agreements, SaaS contracts, NDAs, data‑processing addenda, and RFP responses.
• Own transactions from initial redline through signature, acting as the primary legal contact.
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, Partnerships, Operations, and Finance to shepherd deals to completion, especially during quarter‑end and year‑end.
• Provide day‑to‑day commercial legal advice that enables the business while minimizing risk.
• Improve standard form agreements and legal‑contracting processes, and implement scalable legal technology.
• Lead internal projects, training initiatives, and cross‑functional efforts.

Required profile

• 3–7 years post‑qualification experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, preferably from a leading law firm.
• Demonstrated experience with SaaS agreements, technology licensing, and channel deals (resellers, distributors, MSPs).
• Ability to manage a high volume of transactions in a fast‑paced tech environment.
• Strong judgment to work independently, make decisions within remit, and know when to escalate.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and collaborative skills, especially with sales teams.
• Qualified to practice in at least one EU, UK, or US jurisdiction.
